I almost missed Joe's wave, nice off the top and big cutty.

Morning session

Got an early morning surf with Joe, Brian and Jeff. It turned into a sunny day with some good sets.

Hawaii Kai Christmas Parade

We walked down the street to see the Hawaii Kai Christmas parade. Brian's son Kastin is in the Kaiser High School marching band. Here is some video of them performing. Kastin is in the very beginning playing the trombone. You just catch a glimpse of him putting his instrument down.

Today's waves

Joe's fin plug repair. Joe is studying to be in the medical profession. Here is his surfboard surgery. He said that this happened because he used marine (boat) resin. I think you can get airbubbles like this using regular resin too. Anyway, the operation was a success and he got his board back in the water. Too bad it was for waves like this.

This was hard to surf.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We had alot of friends and relatives over at our house this year. I think that we have the same reasons for being thankful. I am most thankful for family and friends, and good health to be able to work hard and enjoy being active with my children. Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving being with their families!

Diamond Head

Here's just a few shots of Diamond Head on my way home from work. There are more waves here so I guess it can handle the surfers, longboarders, and bodyboarders.

New Camera

I got the Fuji Finepix XP10. Its water proof, shock proof, and freeze proof.
It even takes videos too. I didn't use it yet, but I am hoping that the videos will come out better than my other camera. Maybe I'll be able to get some water shots !

Grace Hawaii North Shore

Brian went up to the north shore this past weekend and got some very good waves at Sunset Beach. He used the red Taro shaped 7'0 gun. Conditions were really nice 6' - 8 '. Brian got to talk story with Tom Curren in the line up.

Locals Only

I was thinking of a title for these photos- unexpected visitor, special guest, but this is the one and only local of this beach. We are the visitors and guest of his ocean home. Every so often these monk seals will rest on the beach for a couple of days. Sometimes they are even swimming in the water with us when we are surfing. I like how he/she is resting his head on the rock like its a pillow.

A day with the kids

Sun setting behind the bird sanctuary.

Koko Crater

Lowtide Kuliouou beach park

Here are some highlights from my day with Seth and Mia. First we went to Yogurtland. This was a first time for me and WOW! it was delicious. Mia had a lychee and mango yogurt with Captain Cruch cereal topping. Seth had double cookies n' cream with brownie topping. I had a taro and a green tea combo- Unreal! I kept thinking of the Seinfeld episode about the yogurt having fat in it because something this good can't be good for you. Hah hah!

Finally....... went surfing!

Its been awhile since I updated my blog and even longer since I went surfing. What a nice surprise to go down to the beach and be greeted with these waves. I spent all of my time on the lefts, but you can see there were good rights too. I hope you all were able to enjoy the weekend as much as I did. Aloha and mahalo!

Welcome to Hawaii Kai

I went to my friends house overlooking Hawaii Kai. Across the marina is my house. Over Koko Crater is Sandy Beach and Hanauma Bay. This picture was taken on the mountain in the residential area called Mariner's Ridge.

UnDoKai

At Mia's Japanese School, they had a field day called Un-do-kai. Its an outdoor event and the different classes compete in track and field like events. They had a great time!

Here is a sprint to the finish line. Last place, but not a care in the world.

Even the parents got involved. Here is Yuka and Mia doing some sort of broom race.

Fineline glassing Factory

Ron Maize finishing a custom Grace Surfboard. Fineline glassing is known for their fine sand finishes. They look almost like a polish. Thanks Ron for doing all the Grace Surfboards in Hawaii.

Rambutan

My neighbor gave us this fruit from Hilo on the big Island of Hawaii. Its called Rambutan and comes from southeast Asia. It looked very exotic and I never saw this fruit before. Mia peeled the soft spiney skin off and it looked like a giant lychee. It was very sweet and delicious.

Cool Flames

As we were walking through the neighborhood on Halloween night, I came across this car. I don't know much about automobiles, but I can appreciate the time and effort it takes to create something like this. Or maybe I just like flames.

Halloweenies

Halloween came and went. We had a fun time! Mia is at the far left as Jasmine from Disney's Alladin. Seth has his back turned- can you guess what he was?! Ebi Nigiri Man! He comes up with the idea and we have to think of ways to design it. It came out pretty good. A pillow and pillowcase, some black felt, green spraypaint wasabi, and some craft material for the shrimp.
